What I've been making

I'm all over the place with  ideas. I don't think there's ever enough time and energy to create everything I want to, but I sure do try! Here's a few things I've been making lately:

Screen Printing. I've always wanted to do it, and finally I took the time to learn how. It's not an easy thing to just pick up if you've never screen printed before. This took me a couple weeks of research, along with some trial and error...but at last I did it! I made this chicken print from a sketch I made of my own chickens. I'm so excited about it, I now want to print chickens on everything I own! I'm quickly coming up with another design so this does not happen =). Here's my print on a practice shirt, not perfect...but I love it.

New Leather Purse. I mentioned in another post how I'm getting my leather groove back. Well, it's still there. And this butterfly purse is another beauty I've been working on. I have a feeling I will take me a while to finish, but i wanted to share my progress. This piece is the front and back of the purse. The carving/tooling is not complete, and it's just the raw leather with no stain or pant on it.
Redecorating. We got a new couch last weekend, yahooooo! I'm so stoked about it. I changed the pictures on the wall behind it to coordinate a bit more with the new color scheme (our last couch was bright red!). I had to take a picture because I've been admiring my new set up so much.

That's all today folks!

Leather shop update

I've been neglecting my leather shop for sometime now. Since opening my vintage shop about one year ago, I've had a hard time gathering the inspiration and the time to run both. Not anymore though! The leather shop is back in action. Some of my old creations (like the road trip journals and butterfly wing cuffs) are back and available in my leather shop. I hope to continue the growth of both shops and maintain a balance of two passions that I truly enjoy.

Here's some of the shop's updated items. Enjoy!

Carousel

This is a new piece I have listed in my vintage shop. A brass carousel mobile. It winds up and plays a pretty little song, you can listen here:
I'm not sure of the tune, but the mobile IS maked "Aquarius". Maybe it's the hit 60's song from the musical "Hair"??? I guess it kind of sounds like that song, but it's hard to tell. Maybe someone else knows? I'd love to hear.
I love this piece though, too cute!

It's finished!

I've been working on this for a couple months now. Taking my merry old time. Always a great feeling when I finish. The satisfaction of a long thought out process finally takes form. I'd say approx 20 hours went into this one.

So without further adieu...
Proud to present...

Flowery Antlers Purse!!!

Hope you like.

Oldies but Goodies

Found some old treasures that I'm pretty in love with right now.

Mid Century 18"....I said 18" in diameter electric GE fan. Absolutely fantastic piece.

Hand done wood burning of a woman's profile. I found this in a pile of pictures at a thrift store. To my surprise when I turned it over it was signed and dated, " From Emma To Katie Dec. 25th, 1906 ".

You can find both these items for sale in my vintage shop right now. Just click on my vintage shop link to the right.

Till next time!

This Weeks Finds

A few of the vintage goodies I'll have available in my shop this week. My favorite has to be the military folder. A leather zip case that was used for a pilots navigation kit in the US Air Force. Too cool! And the last shot is my daughter hamming it up when I had my camera out. She sure does loves the camera!

Vintage Inspired - Reclaimed Wood

Check out my newest addition to the vintage shop! Handmade, vintage inspired wall sconces. Reminiscent of old barn wood, farmhouse decor. These are handmade from reclaimed cedar wood. I love the gray-brown color and weathered texture. So far the wall sconces are available in my shop. My husband and I (he's more the power tool guy so he's been helping out) are also in the works of some mason jar candle wall sconces too! And possibly some mason jar/reclaimed wood light fixtures. Lots-o-fun!
